"At the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, white walls have been abandoned in favour of colourful rooms that promise to effect the guests' experience and emotions.
Five identical rooms at the hotel were repainted in three different colour combinations.
Five journalists visited the hotel, each saying in a different room for one night to experience the various hues.
While their reactions were all different, they generally felt less confronted - and more comfortable - with the colours than had originally been expected."
