My friends Jim Olarte and Jeff Trenchel did the recent remodel for Thalia Street Surf Shop. It is totally great, a refreshing update on an awesome store.
Thalia Street has great clothing lines; you find things that have a bit more exclusivity? The cool stuff.
The new remodel does all the product in the store justice, there are plenty of homespun touches throughout the space that scream "Modern Beachcomber". A lot of the detritus and flotsam from the ocean has made its way into the concept. Lots of seaglass, driftwood, wood floors patched with small pieces of copper plate - all add the the attention to detail.
I declare it a success.
