Eichler Homeowners Up In Arms

photos courtesy OC Register

There was a thread in Apartment Therapy about a building permit approved for an addition in an Eichler tract in Orange where apparently the remodel is out of character for the neighborhood.
Wow, did people have a lot to say on that one, both in ATLA and OC Register, where the story was first reported. Very emotional on both sides.
I like the Eichler neighborhoods, seeing all those homes together is pretty impressive and I think there is some historical significance that should be preserved, or at the very least managed. It's like Palm Springs; the architecture out there is a huge defining part of that city.
Now, I have a tip for y'all: If you don't want a McMansion getting built next to your precious MCM home, then come on down to 1.7 Ocean! Everyone there is committed to keeping the neighborhood nice. And you don't have to live in Orange! And you're 1.7 miles from the beach!
