Sailboat Hallway
I saw this post on ATLA, a hallway in Echo Park filled with seascapes, etc, it reminded me of my hallway in Laguna.

1.7 Ocean on Apartment Therapy
Chris + Erica over at 1.7 Ocean have their home profiled on Apartment Therapy!
From AP:
Who Lives Here: My husband, Chris and I. Oh, and our canine son, Omar!
Location: Costa Mesa, California
Size: 850 square feet
What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? Our small, cool home is GREEN! When we first moved to California from Idaho we knew little about the green movement, but we quickly caught on to the importance of green living. Our home is a mid century bungalow remodeled with green features. We recently planted an herb garden and plan to expand to an organic vegetable garden soon. Our toilet and shower are low flow. We have Energy Star appliances and low maintenance, native California landscaping with underground drip irrigation. We keep energy use/costs down by taking advantage of all of the natural sunlight and fresh air we get through our windows and doors. At least 75% of the new decor/furniture we have purchased for our home is second hand. We've found some great pieces at local flea markets, craigslist and thrift stores!

Bathroom Counter
I saw this thread in Apartment Therapy and thought it looked great.
Taking an old Mid Century Modern credenza and converting it into a sink fixture....great way to re-purpose.
Usually the majority of these types of projects end up looking weird and too craft-y, however this one hits the mark.

How Small Can You Go?
From Apartment Therapy:
Elizabeth Turnbull, a Yale grad student, decided it would be cheaper and greener to build her own mini-home on a trailer, than pay for traditional housing.
The thing even has solar panels! She's done a lot with 8x18 feet of space. The home has a sleeping loft, storage, a study area, a kitchen, a living area, and a bathroom. And, it's totally off the grid. You'll notice the simple passive design. During the winter, the side with all the windows will gather sunlight. During the summer, she'll turn the trailer around and leave the slanted roof facing the sun. Three solar panels will power her computer, lights, and other electronics in the home. The tiny house has a small shower, composting toilet, and propane to heat the home when necessary.
In keeping with bettershelter's philosophy, smaller = better!

Venice Beach Eco Lodges
From Apartment Therapy: "Want to visit LA but have no place to stay? Forget the schmancy hotels on the Sunset Strip, and bunk down in style at one of these Venice Beach Eco Cottages. These three beach bungalows were completely remodeled using eco-friendly products: repurposed original wood, energy efficient appliances, and vintage furnishings and local art."
These three solar-powered urban retreats are only four blocks from the beach and the shops on of Abbot Kinney Blvd.
Each of the one-bedroom retreats was restored from the ground up using earth friendly, organic and repurposed materials.
