Spark Modern Fireplace

I am always looking at new fireplace technology for homes, Spark Modern Fireplaces looks great.
Says the site:

This clever design proves that less is more. Even glass doors have been eliminated, leaving nothing but the appearance of a pure ribbon of fire.

Because no venting is required, this design offers extraordinary freedom in placement and installation. Your Fire Ribbon vent-free can be at any height, on interior or exterior walls, basement or common room. No chimney, flue, or hearth is needed. And its vent-free engineering satisfies stringent national standards of safety.

1.7 Ocean-A Few Years Later

I visited 1.7 Ocean for the first time in a while and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised!

The whole site has aged very well and I especially like the vine-covered "carports", the ultimate in a green parking spot.
The place looks great.

The Guy's Eye

A home in the Catskills is profiled in the New York Times.
Says the owner:
“I don’t care about pedigree,” he said of the 19th-century furniture that fills the farmhouse. “I like the fact that the objects were made for a specific purpose. They may be a little crude but they also usually have clean, modern lines.”
Indeed, there is something crisp and masculine about the owner’s aesthetic that appeals to what he calls “the guy’s eye.”

We agree with him and like the way he covered the walls in old prints, paper, etc.
